FAQs

To save you time – here are some answers to some questions you may have!

What are your qualifications?

Good question – there are a lot of job titles in mental/psychological health (counsellor, psychotherapist and therapist to name a few). Officially, I am a chartered psychologist/clinical psychologist. I have an MA Psychology and Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. I also have around 30 years of professional experience

Do you follow any professional codes of practice?

Of course. I am an Associate member of the BPS and adhere to the code of professional conduct and ethics. I am registered with HPCP whose role it is to protect the public by setting standards and taking actions when professionals on their register do not meet required standards.

What therapy do you offer?

I offer different therapies from the wide, ever-developing field of cognitive-behaviour therapy. At our first appointment I will be interested in hearing from you about what the problem is, how long it has been around and how it affects your life. I will end the appointment by asking you to think about what you would like to be different in your life and we will plot a course towards this.

Who do you see?

I see people who are over 18 years of age who are suffering with a range of psychological difficulty often involving depression, anxiety, panic, or ocd. My clients have sometimes been through the NHS system and are looking to go privately for a shorter wait to start therapy and more flexible appointments scheduling.

How do I book sessions and how many will I need?

Booking is easy. Once you make an initial enquiry by phone, email or via my website I will aim to reply within 48 hours. I generally reply by asking when you can be free for a brief phone call with me to establish if we are a good fit and then proceed to finding a mutually convenient time to meet.

Once therapy begins we will make appointment as we go. It is difficult to predict how many sessions you might need but I generally see clients for around 10 – 20 weekly or fortnightly sessions. It is always up for negotiation.

Will I have to travel to see you?

It is up to you. I can see you in person, online or a hybrid of the two. It will be up to you. I do have free off-road parking available outside my office.

How much do you charge?

My fee is £100/session. I’m recognised by Bupa, AXA, Aviva and Vitality if you are using health insurance. For self-funders I can offer a discount depending on circumstances.
